Ethyl 3-aminocrotonate has numerous applications in the fields of pharmaceutical, agriculture and fine chemical synthesis.



 



Ethyl 3-aminocrotonate can be used to synthesize pyrimidines, which as a compound itself can be used to manufacture antiviral and anticancer drugs. In addition, it is the building block for antimalarials like chloroquine analogs. Moreover, it can be used in ACE inhibitors which block the production of a substance called angiotensin II that narrows blood vessels and increases blood pressure. ACE inhibitors are mainly used to treat heart and kidney conditions. It is also used in the production of heterocyclic antibiotics.



 



In agriculture, ethyl 3-aminocrotonate is a key material in synthesizing pesticides and herbicides.



 



In the field of organic synthesis, ethyl 3-aminocrotonate can be used in cyclization reactions and as a ligand in catalysis.
